Privacy Policy

This is a translation provided for convenience. If there is any difference in meaning, the Korean version prevails.
MetaGrid ("we") provides Cogbloom (the "App") and its website (https://cogbloom.metagrid1.com). This policy explains what information is processed when you use the App, why it is processed, and the choices you have.
You can use the App without an account. An account is needed only if you choose to sync across devices.

1. Information we process

The settings you choose (language, theme, privacy choices) are stored only on your device.
Information you enter in the App (such as the items you record) is stored on your device. If you sign in with a MetaGrid1 account to use sync, it is also stored on our server in the Republic of Korea together with your account ID, nickname, a partly hidden email address and the time of each sync, so that the same information appears on your other devices. Your MetaGrid1 account itself is handled under the MetaGrid1 privacy policy (https://metagrid1.com/privacy).
Depending on the features you use, the following information is processed:
• Advertising ID (AAID/IDFA, only where permitted by your device settings and consent)
• Device and app information (device model, OS version, language, app version)
• IP address (used to estimate approximate location such as country or city)
• Ad views and clicks
• Random identifier created by the App
• Purchase and subscription history (product, price, period, store receipt)
• Payment details (email address, country and payment method — payment method details are kept only by Paddle; we never receive them)
• Cookies and similar technologies in your browser
• App usage events (screens viewed, features used)
• Crash and error reports (error details and the app state at that time)

2. Why we process it

• Showing ads, limiting how often they appear, measuring ad performance and preventing ad fraud
• Processing, verifying and restoring subscriptions and purchases
• Understanding in aggregate how the App is used so we can improve it
• Detecting, diagnosing and fixing crashes and errors
• Checking for and delivering app updates (new versions of the app’s content)
• Storing and syncing your information across your devices when you sign in

3. Service providers and international transfers

We entrust the following service providers with processing information. The information is sent over an encrypted connection at the moment you use the related feature and is stored on the provider's servers.
Google LLC (AdMob)
Purpose: Showing ads, limiting how often they appear, measuring ad performance and preventing ad fraud
Information: Advertising ID (AAID/IDFA, only where permitted by your device settings and consent) · Device and app information (device model, OS version, language, app version) · IP address (used to estimate approximate location such as country or city) · Ad views and clicks

Retention: Under the provider's policy (Google anonymizes ad server logs after 9 to 18 months)
RevenueCat, Inc.
Purpose: Processing, verifying and restoring subscriptions and purchases
Information: Random identifier created by the App · Purchase and subscription history (product, price, period, store receipt) · Device and app information (device model, OS version, language, app version) · IP address (used to estimate approximate location such as country or city)
Location: United States
Retention: While the purchase remains valid and is needed to restore it; deleted on request unless the law requires otherwise
Paddle.com Market Limited (Paddle)
Purpose: Processing, verifying and restoring subscriptions and purchases
Information: Payment details (email address, country and payment method — payment method details are kept only by Paddle; we never receive them) · Purchase and subscription history (product, price, period, store receipt) · IP address (used to estimate approximate location such as country or city)
Location: United Kingdom
Retention: For the period required by tax and e-commerce law (generally 5 years)
Google LLC (Google Analytics)
Purpose: Understanding in aggregate how the App is used so we can improve it
Information: Cookies and similar technologies in your browser · App usage events (screens viewed, features used) · Device and app information (device model, OS version, language, app version) · IP address (used to estimate approximate location such as country or city)
Location: United States
Retention: Up to 14 months after collection (Google Analytics retention setting)
Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry)
Purpose: Detecting, diagnosing and fixing crashes and errors
Information: Crash and error reports (error details and the app state at that time) · Device and app information (device model, OS version, language, app version) · IP address (used to estimate approximate location such as country or city)
Location: United States
Retention: Up to 90 days after collection
650 Industries, Inc. (Expo)
Purpose: Checking for and delivering app updates (new versions of the app’s content)
Information: Random identifier created by the App · Device and app information (device model, OS version, language, app version) · IP address (used to estimate approximate location such as country or city)
Location: United States
Retention: Update request logs are kept as set by the provider’s policy (as long as needed to run and secure the service)
Payments are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their own terms and privacy policies. We never receive your card or other payment details.
Subscription payments on the web are processed by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited, United Kingdom) as the reseller (merchant of record); payments, taxes and refunds are governed by Paddle’s buyer terms and privacy policy. We do not receive card numbers or other payment method details — only your subscription status (whether it is active and its period).
You can refuse a transfer by turning off the related option in Settings or by not using the related feature. Ads in the free version cannot be turned off, but you can refuse personalized ads.

4. How long we keep it

Information stored on your device is deleted when you delete it in the App or uninstall the App. "Reset app data" in Settings only resets the App’s settings.
Information held by service providers is kept for the periods shown in the table above and then deleted or anonymized.
Synced information is kept until you choose “Stop syncing and delete server data” in Settings or delete your MetaGrid1 account, and is then deleted without delay. A device’s sign-in expires after 180 days without use.

5. Your choices and rights

• You can review or change your ad consent in Settings > Ad privacy choices (shown where required). On iOS you can allow or deny tracking in the device Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the device settings.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
• You can turn off anonymous usage statistics in Settings at any time.
• You can turn off crash reports in Settings at any time.
• You can sign out, or delete the copy on our server, at any time in Settings.
You may ask us to access, correct, delete or stop processing your personal information by contacting us. Because the App has no accounts, we may ask you for details that help us find the relevant records (for example, the approximate date and time of a crash).

6. Children

The App is not directed to children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14.

7. Security

All information is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We choose providers that apply industry-standard security measures and restrict access to the information they process.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version with its effective date in the App and on the website at least 7 days before it takes effect, or at least 30 days before for changes that significantly affect your rights.
